A local cylinder stamping company
had an application where they had a dangerous working environment for
their employees. This was a perfect place for a robot.
We chose a Fanuc S420IF RJ 120kg. robot. We custom designed a large
gripper and used a large Robotic Accessories safety clutch. This
robot picks large deep drawn cylinders off of a conveyor. The
cylinder is placed in a vertical press to have the top hole stamped out,
as well as UN/DOT information. After this operation the cylinder is
taken off the press and placed onto a vertical trimmer. After this
operation the cylinder is removed and placed on an outflow conveyor to be
welded.
Each cylinder coming off the press conveyor is approx. 70lbs. and is
almost 400deg. F. from the pressing operation. This operation
was perfect for this robot. We chose a re-built robot and
accomplished the job for under $40,000.
